Council secrecy over appointment of Head of Libraries

Clive Morton, Head of Cultural Services refused to answer questions about the appointment of Lorna Lee as Head of Libraries - Ms Lee, was already head of the museum and gallery and introduced the scheme to run a part time service at Vestry House Museum and William Morris Gallery.

During a Community Council meeting a local resident asked in which publication the job was advertised, Mr Morton’s initial response was that the post was filled in accordance with the “managing change” procedure and that Mrs Lee gave a presentation and formal interview, meeting the council’s requirements for the post. However, when pressed on the point, Mr Morton replied that: “Because the lawyers are involved in putting together this information, I do not want to give any more information until I have spoken to them again.” See the full story in Waltham Forest Guardian.
