11 October
A visit to the village of Ditchling and the Ditchling Museum.
Without Frank Brangwyn there would be no William Morris Gallery. Ditchling was the home of Frank Brangwyn from 1918. This visit will start with an exploration of the life and work of Morris’s apprentice, to be followed next year by a film of his life and a visit to some of his murals. The village has strong connections with the Arts and Crafts movement. The sculptor Eric Gill moved there in 1907 with his apprentice Joseph Cribb, and was soon followed by fellow craftsmen Edward Johnson, Hilary Pepler, and Desmond Chute.
The all inclusive cost for the coach and guided tour of the village and museum is £27.50 per person, contact Martin Adams for tickets, e-mail; martin.adams@stolen-image.com
