Tuesday 13 February, a mass visit to the gallery has been planned. See Martin Stuchfield’s letter. It will open a Word document in a new window.

Ken has his say

Questioned by Green Party London Assembly Member, Darren Johnson, on 30 January about the proposals to limit access to the William Morris Gallery and Vestry House Museum, Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London answered “Vestry House Museum and William Morris Museum are both important cultural institutions offering unique collections. I am concerned that their future is secured for both current and future generations. This is doubly important given that Waltham Forest already has one of the lowest levels of cultural provision in the capital. I have recently met with the Leader of the council to discuss this matter and look forward to a positive outcome.”

The Council’s website has been updated with a positive spin on the reduced access to both venues, whilst stating that they’re wanting to increase access at the weekends, they neglect to mention that this means possibly closing the galleries for the other 5 days of the week.
